"Hi, I'm  Dorene DeJong from Midwest Transylvanian Hounds—Erdélyi Kopo in Rockford, Michigan. As a registered member of UKC (both dogs), Hungarian Kennel Club (Dam), FCI (Sire). Both come from champion bloodlines. I specialize in ethical breeding of Transylvanian Hounds or Erdélyi Kopo. My breeding program focuses on breed standard excellence, specifically in temperament and structure, with all breeding stock cleared for hereditary health issues (heart, hips, and elbows). This breed was almost considered extinct, and there is only two official breeders in all of the United States. My heritage is Hungarian, with the same last name Erdelyi, the story of this breed played on my heartstrings, and I felt a mission to educate and have this breed thrive again. So, my Dads dream was to own a Transylvanian Hound, but could never find one. In February 2023, a breeder had Gunner. Gunner became part of his family. After meeting Gunner I fell in love and wanted a female to bring this breed back alive and in the United States. I researched with the help of Hungarian breeders over in Hungary and purchased a female Transylvanian Hound from Budapest, Hungary to ensure bloodlines didn’t cross. Maci then took the big trip here from Hungary March of 2023. So here we are, both Hounds are three years old, medically cleared to achieve breed standard excellence and hope the world falls in love with a puppy that was almost nonexistent.
